Google Prostitute

Google got a feature "Spell Checker" which suggests a keyword that sounds more like the searched keyword and lot of people search for it. Which is cool, but not for everybody.

I have a friend who got a site proxyTuts.com. When he searches for "proxytuts" in Google see what he get as a suggested spelling http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=proxytuts&btnG=Search

Did you mean: prostitutes

My friend is not happy with his prostitute suggestion from Google, he wanna get rid of it. So he contacted Google and they said its pulled by the Google Algorithm they can't do anything manually to fix it; unless the site has at least 500+ pages indexed on Google. Anybody experienced with Google knows that takes a lot of time for most websites, and in this case my friend is stuck with his prostitute for a while.

How to find .gov and .edu sites

Links from .gov and .edu sites are considered valuable by many webmasters. So how you find them?

Its actually very simple to find all the .gov or .edu sites. On Google/Yahoo you can type site:.gov and you will get the list of .gov sites.

If you type site:.gov blog you will get all the .gov blogs.

Here is an example that gives .gov sites http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...ov&btnG=Search

You can find the .edu sites similar ways.

Best link development approach

Links from other sites are the life line for any website. Links from other sites significantly determine your website page rankings for different keywords and your website PR as well.

Many people tend to get links from high PR websites like directories etc. Used to be the case when getting links from high PR site paid off really well. Not any more.

With current search algorithm getting links from related sites is the most important. No matter what PR the linking site has, if its related to your website you should consider getting a link from it. And that makes the game of link building difficult.

Can a website with NO or Less PR rank well on SERPs?

This is a question lot of people want to know, specially when they are new in SEO.

Lot of people think high PR websites rank well for granted for competitive keywords. And low PR websites does not.

In real thats not the case. "PR does not have anything to do with ranking on SERPs". SERP ranking depends on many factors. Content, backlinks are few to mention that greatly effects the SERP ranking. Even a website with no PR can rank very well for competitive keywords.

Sandbox Effect, Real or Hype?

The Sandbox Effect is the theory that websites with newly-registered domains or domains with frequent ownership or nameserver changes are placed in a sandbox (which is a holding area) in the indexes of Google until it is deemed appropriate before a ranking can commence. Webmasters with new websites claims that their site does not show up on Google search for keywords because its sandboxed. New pages of old websites are not effected by sandbox effect.

There are many different opinions about Sandbox Effect. Some says that the Sandbox Effect doesn't actually exist. Some says that the search ranking behavior can be explained as a result of a mathematical algorithm, rather than a decided Sandbox Effect policy.

Those who believe the sandbox exists observe that it can sometimes take up to a year or longer for a website to be promoted from the Google sandbox, while those who do not believe in a sandbox explain this duration as simply the time it takes for Google to calculate rank of the pages of a new site.

Regardless of interpretation, it is widely accepted that new Websites and Web pages do wait longer for ranking in Google than other search engines in general.

Article Marketing Our Old Friend

Article marketing is old fashioned but still useful way of building backlinks. With the explosive popularity of social networking websites, article marketing lost appeal to many. Mainly because of the "instant result" nature of the social networking site marketing.

With lot of people misusing the social networking websites, most of the popular ones use NOFOLLOW tags on links these days.

I am sure you have heard of the story slow turtle beats the fast rabbit by hard working. This happen to be very true on website marketing as well. Most of us won't be able to make Digg front page or so to get boost of traffic. I rather find the old fashioned ways, including article marketing, more useful.
